Six Proven Facts About Cancer:

April 6, 2010 by admin

Presently, there is no known factor that can be said that is the basic cause or causes of cancer. There are some facts that have long been held about cancer that has been discovered to be false, but new facts about this deadly have equally emerged. The lists below are however, some of the facts that are widely believed to be the true facts about cancer.

1) Heredity is among the factors that influence the occurrences of cancer in human life. However, the hereditary lines in an individual cannot be used to diagnose a cancer victim. Rather, this makes it difficult if not impossible to actually say what will become of a cancer patient. There has been striking similarity in the development of breast cancers in the life of people of the same family, especially with identical twins.

2) Cancer is not contagious. There is no proven fact that shows that one can contact cancer by taking care of another cancer patient.

3) There is no scientifically proven influence that diet has on the development of any type of cancer. There are people that believe that some diets has some contributing factors towards the development of cancer, but since there is no scientifically proved evidence presently either in support of it or not, there is no basis also to say that such belief is wrong.

4) A repeated injury or a long term irritation has the potential to cause cancer.

5) Cancer sometimes behaves like infections, and certain animal experiments of malignant tumors seemed to stimulate cancer formation.

6) Certain hormones in the body, like the estrogenic hormones of the ovary stimulate the growth of cancer in the body. The implication of this is a suggestion that the existence of unbalanced hormone formation or growth in the body can lead to the development of cancer.

These are the basic facts one should know about cancer. However, we need to know that everyday, discoveries are coming out and new facts are equally coming out, so one should not take the above as the only things or the only facts that is worthy to note about cancer. There are other important things that we need to take note of about this deadly disease called cancer. Let’s discuss some of them as they will equally make some meanings in the topic of our discussion today.

A) One of the recognized causes of the cancer of the lower lip is smoking, especially pipe smoking. Also, it can be said authoritatively that one of the major causes of lung cancer is inhaled cigarette smoke. So if we can do away with this, we are doing a whole lot of good for our health.

B) Cancer of the tongue is mostly preceded by either jagged teeth, rough filling of the teeth or even syphilis of the tongue.

C) Cancer of the skin is not common except when this part of the body comes under undue or severe burns on the skin.

D) Cancer of the mouth is more common with those that chew often or hold objects long in their mouth thereby putting the mouth to undue pressure.

E) Excessive exposure to sunlight and wind can lead to skin cancer.

Cancer used to be classified as a disease that is more prevalent to the women folk, due largely the high incidence of breast cancer and other types of cancer that has to do with the sex organ, but there is a reversal of the trend today. More men suffer cancer these days than women. This is due largely to the increase of lung cancer among men. Avoiding all the causes mentioned above will guarantee 100% prevention of cancer, but will greatly reduce it. This is because there are other factors not mentioned here that can equally lead to cancer development in the body. So we should always be on the look out for any symptom that suggests that there is a development of cancer, then go me medical check and if it is discovered to be cancer and treated early, there will be better chance of success than when it has actually grown very large.

Hgh Bodybuilding Facts

April 6, 2010 by admin

Human growth hormone helps increase muscle mass. With time, its production in the human body decreases and hence signs of ageing arrive on the metabolic scene. The muscles drop and their mass and density suffers. It is hence very important for the body builders to have a tireless production of HGH. They can be injected through sprays or injections and can also be taken as pills or releasers. With all such efforts it either looks to stimulate the process of secretion of HGH by the pituitary gland or else inject a hormone which mimics HGH.

The polypeptide hormone helps with tissue growth and production and repair of cells hence they effectively aid the cause of body building. Today, GH has become an integral tool of a bodybuilder?s regimen.

Natural HGH diminishes in production after 30. This is why muscle growth retards. Through supplements, releaser, pills and sprays, the HGH levels in the body and IGF-1 levels in the liver is automatically boosted. HGH is comprised of 191 amino acids and vitamins, now the supplements stimulate these Amino acids. With such stimulation, the calcium retention in the body increases. The bones automatically get stronger. Muscle tissues get a flip and the muscle density enhances dramatically. Well! HGH cannot claim to increase muscle density by 14.4 % as being claimed by dubious sites but at the same time, it is helpful in increasing it by some 7-8 %

Sometimes fatigue sets in and the energy levels come down drastically. In all such cases, the skeletal tissue muscles are encouraged through HGH boosts. HGH helps in bodybuilding so effectively as it transports amino acids very expeditiously. This results in faster protein synthesis.

Bodybuilders love the idea of toned muscles. This means that fat is probably their greatest enemies. HGH boosters engineer the hydrolysis of triglyceride in adipose tissue; this causes the burning of a lot of belly fat.

Steroids have been a much touted body building supplements but only few anabolic hormones are prescribed legally. HGH boosters are generally over the counter prescriptions. They are cost effective and are a safe and legal alternative. HGH is known to further lifting ability as it strengthens shoulder muscle mass. Further, it also enhances an athlete?s resistance against injury. As a drug for bodybuilding, it quite improves the lean body mass. (Mass after the body fat is shed). It also curtails the time required for the body to recover between injuries.

If anyone is looking into HGH then please be cautious before injecting HGH in your body. HGH injections can cause dangerous side effects and could be deadly. If you?re an avid body builder then it is advisable that you go for HGH supplements. HGH supplements are safe and delivery the same results as HGH injection.

Important Facts About Steroid Use in Bodybuilding

April 6, 2010 by admin

Steroids may simply be defined as natural or synthetic chemicals that regulate bodily functions. They may also loosely be described as a grouping of synthetic drugs that resemble hormones manufactured by adrenal glands (cortical steroids) and hormones manufactured by male sexual organs (anabolic steroids).Steroids are essentially lipids from cholesterol secreted from the gonads, placenta and adrenal cortex. They are basically synthetic testosterone derivatives that serve to enhance bone and muscle growth.

Testosterone is the major sex hormone produced by the testicles in males. It serves to cause anabolic and androgenic effects in males. Anabolic (building) effects are increased strength, increased muscle size, improved virility and vitality and enhanced recovery or rejuvenation of the muscles, especially after a rigorous workout session. These are the much-sought after effects by bodybuilders and athletes.

Androgenic (masculinizing) effects are less on the physical side and more on the features side. They include: deepening of the voice, increased growth of body and facial hair and development of acne. It is important to note that these same features will also manifest in women who use the steroids.

How Steroids Work

Steroids work by increasing levels of testosterone in the body almost right away and directing them to the bloodstream. Specific effects or benefits induced depend on the type of steroid taken. Increment of the testosterone hormone in the body actually magnifies the existing reactions and does not initiate the chemical reactions.

Steroid Use

Steroids are a choice item in the sporting world for the simple reason that they enhance performance, endurance and capacity. But it is for this very reason that their usage is banned in the sporting world. For they give distinct and unfair advantage to the users over their competitors.

On the positive side, steroids are used to treat medical conditions such as anemia and breast cancer, depending on the type, and to treat deficiency of testosterone in males. Non-medical use of steroids is strictly illegal widely, but their qualities of enhancing performance and general appearance of the body physique ensure that they are very prone to abuse.

Negative Side Effects

Steroid use is known to directly cause conditions such as:  hypertension, heart disease, cancer, decreased ability of the blood to clot, depression and anxiety, aggression, impotence, stunted growth and development in puberty, insomnia, constant stomach and head aches, enlarged heart and prostrate, loss of hair prematurely, suppression of the immune system, muscle tears, jaundice, anaphylactic shock and palpitations. These are but a few of many others not listed here.

Quick Short Notes on Steroids

Steroids are illegal in non-medical use

Steroids(synthetic) first came into place in the 1950′s
Steroids are the most commonly used drug by bodybuilders, athletes and other sportsmen. A recent survey found that up to 3 million sportsmen and women are active users of steroids
Steroids are introduced into the body by way of injection into the muscles and by oral ingestion
Steroids are scientifically proven to be addictive and therefore easily abused
Steroid use does not cause increase of the penile size as is commonly thought. But it actually causes testicular shrinkage
Steroids produce “nitrogen balance” in the body
Steroid use being illegal, there is a thriving black market trading of the commodity and there is thus no veracity on potency, quality or capacity.

All said and done, steroids are synthetic drugs whose use should be very carefully determined and monitored under a qualified medical practitioner. This is because abuse or misuse of the drug can lead to severe medical repercussions that may not be reversible, as indicated above.

Top Tanning Facts For A Safe Tan

April 6, 2010 by admin

The custom of tanning one’s skin has received a lot of publicity in the recent times. Because of its alleged link with cancer, tanning and its effects has become a major subject of debate among scientists, beauticians and even the women who would like to know all the facts about it before deciding on whether to go tanning or not.

Though it is commonly believed that tanning invariably leads to skin cancer, recent studies have shown that tanning may be a protective device against certain types of cancers. The risk of colon and breast cancer is reduced by exposure to tanning conditions as the sun retards the growth of cancerous cells that cause these conditions. By retarding its growth, cancer rates come down. This is proven by the fact that cancer of the breast and colon is more common in countries that are sun deprived.

Establishing the benefits of exposure to the sun from tanning is a scientific fact. One can also counter the belief that tanning should be stopped because it is one of the causes of skin cancer. Tanning need not be stopped altogether because of this risk. After all it is a known fact that deaths from melanoma, the variety of skin cancer that is the risk factor from tanning, is the least death risk as only 0.3% of death cases have been linked with this form of cancer.

Then again, in the early stages, there can also be a cure from surgery. Colon and breast cancer is a far bigger killer as the number of affected cases is around 20% to 65%. The chief benefit of tanning helps to control osteoporosis and thus it is an ideal way of enjoying the sun and benefiting from it.

Another fact that is seldom examined is the incidence of melanoma that is much lower in countries with sunshine. Scientific research has not been able to disprove this fact. It is only a handful of doctors and lobbyists of the anti-tanning groups who have linked the twin facts and come up with a theory. After all, skin cancer is more prevalent in northerly latitudes where the exposure to the sun for the population is much less than in the tropical and equatorial regions.

All this brouhaha about tanning has given rise to an unusual and unnatural fear of the sun among the population. This is a cleverly propelled myth by the multi-million-dollar pharmaceutical companies who wish to sell their sun screen and other sun protective lotions to women who are keen to look and feel good without risking their health to tanning and running the risk of cancer or related problems. The industry that is supplying tanning equipment is the only one of the kind that is propagating the safe ways of tanning and this single player in a giant propelled market is a loser right from the start. The voice of the factual users of tanning appliances is thus never heard by the majority.

The fact that tanning can be a safe way of looking good and feeling fit thus needs to be implemented and put in the right perspective. The skin cancer cause is not as simple as it looks and the public need to be informed about the right facts. Skin cancer is a complicated issue. The fact that moderate tanning can avoid all the ill effects of sunburn and exposure to UV rays, tanning activity can be enjoyed without worrying about the risk of cancer. The tanning salons therefore have to adopt a vigorous campaign to educate the public about the correct facts regarding tanning and its effects, both long term and short term.

Laptop Growth, Evolution And Review

April 6, 2010 by admin

Since 2005, the sales of laptops have displaced those of desktop PCs in the United States.

Due a constant drop in price rapid technical improvements and the swift evolution and extension of the WAN technology, notebooks are destined to replace desktops in most areas both professionally and at home.

Laptops will account for more than half of the worldwide PC shipments by 2011, according to a new report by IDC.

According to the Gartner Group, worldwide some 257.1 million PCs will ship this year, and 60 percent of them will be desktops. PC growth for 2007 should be around 7% while laptops will grow by 18.6% and will continue to maintain a double digit growth at least until 2010. Desktop sales are still strong in the EMEA and Latin America with about 60% of all shipments.

In more mature markets notebooks have taken over and continue to grow at a much faster pace. This would hardly shocking news.

Notebooks take up much less space than desktops, they’re portable, and given their relatively low cost compared to a few years ago, you can just buy a new one when you decide you want to upgrade.

Specific reasons of the evolution from desktop to laptop:

- Price: While laptops are still more expensive than desktops for the same power/capacity, the gap is constantly narrowing. In 2000 you could expect to pay almost double for a laptop comparable to average desktop priced around $1,000. In 2007, you can expect a $300 to $500 difference depending on brands.

- Power: The same applies here. Even in the early 2000s, any heavy database user or serious gamer would not hesitate one second in between a desktop or a laptop. While there is still an advantage for desktop, this barrier has come down drastically; in fact many IT departments have migrated to laptops and only the most serious queries are run on servers. The same applies to gamers where only the most demanding games need to be run on the most advanced desktop. For the average user using office and going online the desktop have no specific advantages

- WiFi/Portability: The explosion of wifi spots is a decisive factor that explains the migration to laptops. Years ago, laptops where generally used because you could take them with you when traveling, nowadays in many areas you can work while traveling (airports, trains, restaurants, coffee shops…) are among the location where you can actually go online at a very comfortable speed. You can even use such tool as Skype with a wireless laptop and have video conference anywhere you have WiFi access.

In addition, laptops are continually getting lighter and screen sizes bigger. Most new laptops come with 17 inch screens and weigh under 7 pounds. Those with 15 inch monitors generally weigh under 5 pounds. You can buy them new starting below $400…

The desktop will not go away anytime soon, they will slowly evolve in a different market demand such as Media PC environment (TV tuner, DVR, radio, music) for the home or used as back up device for your laptop. Chances are that when it is time to replace your DVD player you will may buy a PC and you will also get use to download TV shows on your computer and watch them on your TV.

What’s next for laptops?

- On one hand they will continue to improve in the traditional “way” catching up with the desktops in term of power and capacity and slowly replacing desktop for most needs.

- Another aspect is the extra portability evolution already underway with mini laptops, palmtops, tablet PCs and touch screen laptops. Combining extreme portability and WiFi, these mini laptops will replace gradually paper and pads, order sheets, notebooks and others… As you write or type any information on your mini laptop (orders, notes, drawings, questionnaires….) you have the ability to immediately save, sync or communicate the results.

Enter Rooms Full of Unlimited Growth by Using the Right Keys to Eliminating Bad Habits

April 6, 2010 by admin

To gain and benefit from virtually unlimited growth, you need to understand three key concepts: irresistible growth, stalls, and stallbusting.

The term “irresistible force” conjures up ideas of overwhelming power, like the jet stream, a tornado or an earthquake, that often suggest conflict or annihilation. But “irresistible” can also mean something that is so alluring that we are drawn to it despite our desire to resist. In the Odyssey, for example, Odysseus had to be bound to the mast of his ship so that he could resist the songs of sirens as he sailed past their island.

An irresistible force can have either attribute. It can be so strong that it overwhelms you physically, as in a force of nature, or it can be so attractive that it is hard to resist psychologically, as in a temporarily low interest rate, which leads you to borrow excessively.

In business, irresistible forces are powerful trends that can significantly affect the direction of your enterprise. Such forces abound. Customer needs and the influences that create those needs, costs that are hard to control, government regulation, taxes, trends in the development of technology, globalization, the weather, physical limits, and human behavior are some examples.

An irresistible force is simply anything that is mostly beyond the control of you and your organization in influencing your business. Unless your enterprise is a virtual monopoly, you have to take into account the whims of the powerful customer before deciding where you will sit.

As an example, consider a company that provides accessories for sport utility vehicles (SUVs). When the demand for SUVs is high, the accessory manufacturer is kept busy trying to make enough products to keep up with the demand. As newer and better models of SUV come out, the demand for accessories shifts in new and unpredictable ways.

Similarly, when SUVs lose their popularity — because of higher insurance premiums, revelations of overhyped safety or capability for driving in snow, decreased family size, or objections to airborne emissions — the accessory maker has a hard time selling accessories even if they are vastly improved and offered at a low price. Therefor, the accessory business can be buffeted by irresistible forces in different directions and in unpredictable ways, going rapidly from enormous growth to potential free-fall.

What is an irresistible force? The customer’s CEO sits wherever he or she likes.

All enterprises are subject to many and potentially changeable forces. Unfortunately, the powers that be in many organizations convince themselves that the status quo will remain in place forever. They create a business model that keeps them focused on fine tuning their current state of affairs. All well and good, until the irresistible forces shift in such a way that they encourage your customer to sit instead with your toughest competitor.

Such a shift is inevitable in most businesses if for no other reason than demographics. People change their consumption patterns and the numbers of people in various age groups changes as well. Such changes have meant, for example, that the latest needs of baby boomers have driven the U.S. economy in fundamental ways since the 1950s and will continue to do so for quite some time.

Remember the diaper services that did so well in the late 1940s? Freshly laundered cloth diapers were delivered to the home and soiled diapers were sent out to be washed. That business was eventually subjected to many irresistible forces that changed its profitability.

As women began to work outside the home in increasing numbers and better birth control allowed for increased family planning, births declined and fewer diapers were needed. By the time the first baby boomers were having children, disposable diapers became the rage.

Diaper services saw their business disappear into the sewers and landfills of America. They became victims of a “stall,” a complacent frame of mind and way of thinking resulting in bad organizational habits that impede progress and the achievement of an enterprise’s full success potential.

Suppose a diaper service owner recognized the irresistible forces of the changing demographics and the disposable diaper? She or he could capitalize on the disposable diaper trend by providing the convenience of both disposing of and delivering the bulky items. And if he or she touted ecologically appropriate disposal, wouldn’t this service appeal to even those consumers inclined to buy and dispose of the diapers themselves who care about conservation? For the enterprise to achieve irresistible growth it is necessary that it recognize and overcome the stalls that delay positive action in dealing with irresistible forces.

What is a stall? If it was good enough for Grandma, let’s not leave well enough alone.

Before Muhammad Ali (born Cassius Clay) entered the boxing ring, heavyweight fighting was usually a brawl involving two fighters unmercifully pounding each other until one fell bloodied, bruised, and battered to the canvas for the ten count. But Ali, realizing that getting near a hard-hitting heavyweight fighter in the ring is a dangerous thing to do, changed the sport forever.

He got into top shape aerobically, and danced all around his opponents. He could quickly reach in and flick a punch, and then retreat before the other fighter could react. In fact, the late counterpunch that caught only air helped Ali by tiring out his opponent. Ali’s motto was: “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.”

With his strategy of being outside the range of the irresistible force of the other fighter’s fists, Ali is a classic example of taking a stallbusting approach: using conscious thought to challenge old habits. He realized that getting hit didn’t make you a successful boxer, that success could be achieved by being constantly on the move to be where you could hit but not be hit.

Similarly, consider the prospects for a poor artist at the beginning of the twentieth century. The avant garde styles were changing from Impressionism to Expressionism, while traditional collectors ignored both in favor of polished realism. Clearly, tastes would range from the classic to the most avant garde in the rest of the century. How could an unknown succeed?

Viewed in this light, the career of Pablo Picasso shows that he was a champion stallbuster, as well as one of the 20th century’s great artists. He was a master who easily succeeded with any style he chose, producing works in virtually every type of style in almost every major medium.

Consequently, there was always a type of Picasso to appeal to almost everyone, and his lifetime income was many times larger than those of his contemporaries were. By using a stallbusting approach to the changing art milieu, he found a breakthrough solution to being an outstanding artist who was well appreciated and well paid during his lifetime.

What is stallbusting? Find your tail wind and learn how to ride it.

Hair Growth and Hair Loss Phases

April 5, 2010 by admin

Well my friend, there are a lot of reasons for your hair loss. There are certain ailments that trigger hair loss as well as a selection of medications that you may have been taking. But with natural hair loss, the culprit is usually genetics. So you may opt to take a look (take a good look) at your parents and uncles, your line of ancestry if possible.

If thinning is in the blood, then be prepared to say ‘sayonara’ and ‘goodbye’ to your hair as you age. But before you curse the daylights out of genetics, let us first give some unbiased thought to the hair growth and hair loss phases. You should know what you are up against to be able to have chance of possibly preventing such occurrence, right?

Phase One:

Anagen, the growing stage. Each strand of hair is produced in the interior of a hair bulb rooted deeply in the hair follicle. On most individuals, these follicles are active up until they hit the bucket (of course!). Anyway, the hair growth structure in the Anagen is approximately one centimeter for every month. Unfortunately, this is but a phase, a stage in one’s life that will inevitably come to a gradual stop. Again, genetics—the overwhelming perpetrator—dictates the span of time the hair gets to stay in the Anagen stage. This could run anywhere from three to seven years.

Phase Two:

Catagen, the transitory stage. This phase indicates the end of active hair growth. Typically, Catagen lasts between two to four weeks. It may have brought the growing stage into a halt but the hair still receives nourishment.

Phase Three:

Telogen, the shedding stage. This is the last phase in the cycle, which lasts until the fully formed hair is shed. In this process, the hair sheds due to the fact that the next Anagen is about to commence. See here, as your hair sheds, a new one is growing in its place.

Hair loss is but a natural process; a continuous course that should be trekked to grow new ones.

Then there is the common baldness. This is where the hair slowly thins over time. And more often than not, it strikes the male populace particularly the members with a genetic predisposition to such. This is instigated by a condition identified as androgenic alopecia; and men who experienced premature baldness have the tendency to produce high dihydrotesterone (DHT). DHT is a sex hormone that brings about follicular miniaturization, which decreases the width of the hair shaft that renders the hair fragile, and in turn easy to shed and to shake off.

Common baldness comes in many types depending on the severity and where the actual shedding takes place. There is the Alopecia Areata characterized by some hair loss, which occurs gradually. Another is Alopecia Totalis, as the name suggests, total or complete hair loss. The abovementioned types deal with the hairs atop one’s head.

The next deals with the hair that envelops the whole body – Alopecia Universalis. Have you ever seen a person devoid of hair from head to toe? If you have, he may be suffering from Alopecia Universalis.

If you are shedding at an alarming rate with a considerable amount, go visit your local physician. Hair loss may be linked to genetics but excessive shedding may be a symptom of a disease.

Women Speak Up! Your Job Growth Depends On It!

April 5, 2010 by admin

Women unite! If you plan to see any serious job growth, you must be ready to communicate assertively on the job, especially with your boss.

Of course, job growth depends on many factors. But one that is often overlooked is how important it is to represent yourself and your opinions correctly and effectively. In fact, your job growth depends on it.

A noted career coach, Molly Dickinson Shepard, points out that men get more than their share of money and power in the American workplace.

She advises women to step up to the competitive plate by excelling in communication –gaining an advantage by practicing talking tips:

1. Speak up in business meetings. Don’t wait too long to present a decisive, briefly worded opinion.

2. Stick to the big picture. Details are what make men think they ramble.

3. State your point briefly–and then stop talking. Silence gives others a chance to digest what you say, and respond intelligently.

4. Don’t sit where the boss can’t see you. If the room is crowded, stand up so you can be heard.

5. Assertive speech is good, aggressive is bad.

Shepard’s tips are aimed at women in business meetings while on the job. But, her informative approach applies equally to women who are engaging a prospective employer before a job comes along.

In both cases your job growth success will not depend on what you used to do, but on how well you can communicate who you are and what you can do going forward.

For example, in the job search process, it’s a serious mistake to let your resume do the talking. Women often make the mistake of not speaking up for fear they will somehow offend. Just the opposite is true.

Employers need to see how you handle yourself live. They’re not going to make a hiring decision about you based on your resume. Being a wallflower in an interview means you’ll also go unnoticed when it’s time for a hiring decision.

In other words, if you aren’t speaking at least 50% of the time you’re in front of your next employer, you’re missing an opportunity to reveal how you solve problems, think creatively, and present the contributions you can make going forward.

When you stand out in an employer’s mind because you assertively speak up you seriously advance your job growth opportunities. It’s worth practicing for.
